Recommended Scenic Self-Tour Route
Honningsvåg → Nordvågen → Kamøyvær → Skipsfjorden
We recommend our carefully selected scenic route through some of the most beautiful and authentic areas on Magerøya Island. The route has been chosen for safety, quiet roads, incredible viewpoints, and unique Arctic experiences.
Nordvågen – Traditional Arctic Fishing Culture
Cycle through the charming fishing village of Nordvågen, where you can experience authentic coastal life in Northern Norway.
Visit the local fish factory area where you may see traditional stockfish (dry fish) hanging in the Arctic air — a fishing tradition that has supported coastal communities for generations. You can also get close to the famous Arctic King Crab, one of Northern Norway’s most iconic species and an important part of local fishing culture.
Along the route, you may spot traditional Sámi houses and lavvu tents, offering a glimpse into the indigenous Sámi culture and reindeer-herding traditions that have shaped life in the Arctic for centuries.
Kamøyvær – One of Finnmark’s Most Beautiful Fishing Villages
Continue your journey toward Kamøyvær, a small and picturesque Arctic fishing village known for its colorful harbor, local art, and peaceful atmosphere.
Surrounded by mountains, ocean views, and dramatic Arctic landscapes, this part of the route is ideal for photography and sightseeing. The quiet roads and fresh sea air make the ride especially enjoyable.
Skipsfjorden – Arctic Wilderness & Hidden History
The route continues through the scenic and remote area of Skipsfjorden, where open tundra, rugged coastlines, and Arctic wilderness create a truly unforgettable cycling experience.
Here you can see the historic original Olympic building connected to Northern Norway’s Olympic torch relay history — a hidden Arctic landmark many visitors never discover.
This area is also known for frequent reindeer sightings during the summer season, as herds often roam freely across the island.
